RVezy

RVezy is the top-rated RV rental marketplace in North America. With a 94% approval rate among their customers, the platform is growing fast.

It’s a peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace, similar to Outdoorsy, where you can browse & rent RVs from private owners and experience their RV adventures through their eyes.

With RVezy, RV owners and aspiring renters can get in touch with each other in an environment that’s safe & secure.

RVezy Review

If you look hard enough, you’ll see a multitude of websites made for RV renting – Outdoorsy being the largest.

These services make it effortless for RV owners and renters to connect with each other. RV owners get to earn some extra cash, and renters get to experience adventure on the road without committing to RV-ownership.

In 2016, a new challenger arose in the RV rental industry – RVezy: an RV rental marketplace that has yet to reach its full potential.

Right now, RVezy doesn’t have even a tenth of the business of its biggest competitors. But maybe it should?

In this RVezy review, we take an in-depth look at RVezy — analyzing verified customer reviews, accessibility, fee structure, user-friendliness, and benefits. We also weigh the pros and cons of using RVezy, especially when compared to its competitors.

At the end, we find out whether RVezy is worth paying for at all, and whether you should use it.

Let’s get started.

Verified User Reviews of RVezy

Jump to: Verified Reviews | Google Play Store Reviews | Apple App Store Reviews

Before anything else, let’s see what other people have to say about RVezy. There’s a lot of spam on the internet, but thankfully there are platforms dedicated to showing authentic user reviews.

Today, we’ll look at:

  • Verified Reviews

  • Google Play Store Reviews

  • Apple App Store Reviews

Verified Reviews

reviews-01-verified-reviews.jpg

On Verified Reviews, verified users have been giving RVezy overwhelmingly positive reviews. Only 6% of the people have rated RVezy 3 stars and lower. Because of this, RVezy’s website has a tremendously high approval rating of 94%.

Google Play Store Reviews

reviews-02-google-play-store-reviews.jpg

On the Google Play Store, the average rating for RVezy is mostly positive. The majority of negative reviews were made in mid-2020 because of the app’s exclusivity to Canada-based vehicles and destinations, but RVezy has since expanded to the US. Other bad reviews complain about app glitches, but this seems to be a device-related concern. Because of this, RVezy’s Android app has an approval rating of 76%.

Apple App Store Reviews

reviews-03-apple-store-reviews.jpg

On the Apple App Store, the average rating for RVezy is very positive. Most users are happy with the app, but there are occasional complaints about glitches, which seem to be device-related. Because of this, RVezy’s Android app has an approval rating of 80%.

RVezy Locations

Currently, RVezy is only available in North America — specifically, in Canada and the US. Despite their North America-focused marketing, RVezy is unavailable in countries like Mexico and Greenland.

The top destinations in Canada for RVezy renters are Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary. In America, the top destinations are Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego.

The majority of RVezy’s users (up to 96%) come from Canada, with a small fraction coming from the US (up to 3%). The lack of American users is likely due to the prevalence of other RV rental marketplaces in America, such as Outdoorsy.

These same services are available in Canada as well, but RVezy, despite having a smaller userbase, is just objectively better for Canadians. In addition to having lower insurance fees for Canadian vehicles, RVezy’s roadside assistance also provides a better experience for renters who experience issues on the road.

RVezy Fee Structure

The service fees charged by RVezy will depend on whether you’re a renter or an owner. These fees go towards site upkeep. That includes payment processing, marketing promotion, listing management, support, and insurance costs to protect your RV.

Because of the fee structure, RVezy is generally the better choice for Canadians. Other RV rental marketplaces will charge up to 25% in service fees while RVezy only charges up to 15% for Canadians. RVezy’s fees for US-registered vehicle listings aren’t too different from that of other platforms, but it’s generally lower.

Here’s a summarized version of the fees you can expect to pay.

Service Fees

  • Renter Service Fee (10% per booking, with a minimum of $10/night for trailers & $15/night for motorhomes)

  • Owner Service Fee (15% per booking for Canada & 20% per booking for the US, with a minimum of $10/night for trailers & $15/night for motorhomes)

Additional Fees

  • Late Fees ($100 + $50 administrative fee)

  • RV Cleaning Fee ($150 + $50 administrative fee)

  • No-Show Fees (full cost of the rental period)

  • Refueling Fee (full cost of refueling + $50 administrative fee)

  • RV Damage / Missing Items (full value of the damage/missing items)

All of the fees listed above are deducted from the renter’s security deposit.

Walkthrough: How to Rent an RV on RVezy

An step-by-step guide for renting on RVezy.

Step 1. Browse for an RV you like.

The first step to renting an RV on RVezy is to search for an RV you like. Before anything else, you have to tell RVezy where you plan on going and when. You can do this using the browsing widget found on the homepage.

Enter your location, trip start & end dates, and click Search to go to the next page.

Browsing always takes super long because there’s just so many listings to choose from. Fortunately, there are Search Filters to help us speed up the process.

Using the search filters, you can narrow down your options from thousands of listings – to just the handful of RVs you’re sure you’ll like.

The Search Filters let you filter your results according to RV type, Guest count, Price range, and more. You can personalize these as much as you like so you can find listings that fit your criteria, making the browsing process almost effortless.

Upon setting your filters, the results refresh automatically. The listings that fit your criteria appear below in the form of Listing cards which you can click for more information.

To browse listings based on price and location, you can use the Interactive map. Relevant listings are represented by speech bubbles containing their respective prices. You can click any speech bubble to find more about that listing.

If you see a listing you like and want to find out more, you can click on its listing card or speech bubble if you’re using the map.

RVezy gives a complete breakdown of fees before you start filling anything out, which means you don’t have to commit to any one listing before you decide you absolutely like it.

On the listing page, you’ll see the listing’s Photos, Description, Amenities, and additional details to help you decide. Following you as you scroll down is the price quotation widget that refreshes as you update your booking details.

You can see verified user reviews at the bottom of each listing.

To make extra sure about the listing you’re looking at, scroll down to the bottom of the listing page and check out the Reviews for that listing. Each review contains the user’s rating (out of 5 stars) as well as a short write-up of their experience.

Once you’re sure about a listing, click Request to Book and begin the booking process.

Step 2. Make your booking request.

The booking process begins with a mini-interview.

It always helps to show a bit of personality to foster trust between you and the owner. Tell them about yourself and give them assurance that you’re going to take good care of their RV.

Here, you tell the owner a little bit about yourself, as well as what you plan to do on your trip. Once you’re done, click on Agree & Continue to continue filling out your booking request on the next page.

Depending on the Protection Plan you choose, your Booking Total will refresh to give you an up-to-date price quotation.

On the next page, you get to personalize your booking. You get to choose a between the Standard & Premium Protection Plan. You can also opt in or out of getting Roadside Protection if you feel that you don’t need it.

Add-ons differ from listing to listing, depending on the owner.

At the bottom of the page, you’ll see a list of Add-ons for you to choose from. Many owners offer Add-ons for delivery, generator use, BBQ, camping chairs, bike racks, etc. It depends entirely on the owner.

If you’re happy with your request, click Send Booking Request to notify the owner. Clicking the button doesn’t charge you anything – payment comes only after the owner accepts your request, which should happen within 72 hours.

Step 3. Add an approved driver for your trip.

Upon completing your payments, you’ll receive an email asking you to add an approved driver for your trip. Only approved drivers may handle and drive the RV for the duration of the trip.

Add your approved driver by going to My Profile > Add Driver

Renters themselves can apply to be the approved driver/s for the trip, but they’ll have to fit a set of criteria to qualify. The criteria aren’t too complicated, and any competent driver should be able to qualify.

In just a few moments after the driver/s submit their application to RVezy, you’ll be able to see whether or not their application was approved or not.

Step 4. Talk and meet with the RV owner.

Before the trip, you’ll have a small chat with the RV owner and tell them whether you want to pick up the unit or have it delivered to your house or campsite. After that, you’ll be able to meet the owner in-person.

After some picture-taking (for insurance purposes), you’ll get a full tour of the unit. The owner will give you all of the instructions for operating the RV and take you on a test drive so you can familiarize yourself with the RV’s dimensions and driving technique.

Step 5. Enjoy the ride.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully rented an RV from RVezy. The process is super quick and simple with minimal downtime. If you ever get confused or lost about operating the RV, you can message the owner easily using the RVezy app’s instant messaging feature.

Listing Your RV

List your RV with RVezy today and start earning!

If you own an RV, you can rent it out on RVezy and earn some extra cash on your otherwise inactive vehicle.

Depending on the setup, RV owners can make anywhere from $10,000 to $70,000 per year by renting their RV. Your potential income will depend on your vehicle, location, and marketing style.

Now, RV rental marketplaces are nothing new. Companies like Outdoorsy have already had tremendous success doing the same thing as RVezy.

But the difference, I’ve found, is incredible.

Apart from the superiority of their mobile app, RVezy also has more forgiving rates. I’d choose RVezy’s 15% owner service fee over Outdoorsy’s 20% - 25% or RVshare’s 25% any time.

RVezy even has equal (and sometimes better) Insurance Coverage compared to similar services but at a lower cost. And to make the process as “ezy” as possible, they have a full in-house insurance team that handles all claims and disputes to make everything stress-free.

So, if you’re on the fence about listing your RV on RVezy, then I recommend just going for it. You can start here. To see what the platform’s like behind the scenes, read our RV-listing walkthrough below.

Walkthrough: How to List Your RV on RVezy

Before you can start renting your vehicle out to guests, you have to complete your listing first. Here’s a short guide so you can see how simple the process is.

The instant you log on after signing up, RVezy prompts you to list your vehicle.

listing-your-rv-01-app-prompt.jpg

You can use the mobile app or the website to list your RV. I’ll be using the website for this guide.

RVezy walks you through the entire process. The prompts are simple to understand (no technical, headache-inducing blocks of text), so you can complete your listing in just under 10 minutes without any eye-squints or head-scratches.

They ask you for a few details about your vehicle, specifically:

  • RV type (motorhome, trailer, RV cottage)

  • Vehicle details (manufacturer, model, classification, year, length)

  • Capacity (slide-outs, passenger capacity)

  • RV location

  • Amenities

You can select as many amenities as you like – or you can select none at all. Just remember to be honest so you can set the right expectations between you and your renter.

You can select as many amenities as you like – or you can select none at all. Just remember to be honest so you can set the right expectations between you and your renter.

After that, you can move on to step 2, which is all about showing off your RV and describing yourself to potential renters.

In step 2, you get to:

  • give your RV a unique name.

  • describe to guests why your RV is special.

  • show photos of your handsome rig.

If you’re out of ideas (assuming you haven’t already given your rig an awesome name), you can auto-generate one using the Generate My Name button.

After that, it’s time to get down to business. The next part of the process is about setting your pricing and availability.

In step 3, you can:

  • set your base nightly price.

  • set discount offers (weekly & monthly).

  • set a security deposit for your listing.

  • set up a cleaning fee.

  • offer unlimited mileage and set mileage rates.

  • offer delivery and set delivery prices.

You can set discounts to incentivize guests to stay longer for more profit. If you want to learn more, here’s a guide on setting discount prices for maximum profit.

Once you’re done filling out your listing details, RVezy will put your listing Under Review. This can take a few days, so just leave it and wait for their email.

Once you pass the quality assurance review, renters will be able to see your RV in the search results. If you’re lucky, RVezy might even feature your listing in different sections of the website!

And that’s it – simple as that. All it takes is 10 minutes of form-filling, plus the wait for RVezy’s quality assurance review.

Managing your listing

Once your listing’s approved and published, renters can start sending you booking requests. You can use EZYmatch to connect with actively-browsing renters to get more and faster sales.

You can see and interact with Booking Requests on your Dashboard.

Tips for Owners: How to Maximize Profit on Your RV Rental

Tips for squeezing the most money possible out of your RV rental

Tips for squeezing the most money possible out of your RV rental

After you upload your listing, you’re on your own. And it can be hard to attract renters, at least for the first few weeks. “No reviews yet” isn’t exactly the most enticing combination of words.

So here are 5 tips for maximizing profit:

  1. Be responsive. On RVezy, responsiveness directly affects your listing’s visibility. The more responsive you are to guest inquiries and booking requests, the more visible your listing will be. It doesn’t even matter if you’re declining 99% of booking requests – as long as you’re responsive and proactive in managing your calendar, you stand a good chance of ranking high in the search results.

  2. Be as accurate & detailed as possible. Use everything at your disposal –description, name, amenities – disclose everything in your listing details. If renters can see how detailed you are, they’ll feel safe and trust you more. They’ll know exactly what to expect, which will make their decision-making easier. Plus, if you publish complete listing details, you’ll save so much time answering questions – and time is money.

  3. Show your rig off. Visuals are a massive influencer of customer decision-making. If renters can see how clean, handsome, and well-maintained your rig is, you’re one step closer to closing the sale. Use a decent-quality camera and take photos in each area possible, both in and out of the RV.

  4. Shower your guests with add-ons. What else can you offer your guests? Chairs? A grill? A folding table? It doesn’t even have to be expensive. The mere fact that you’re willing to give your guests more than they asked for will make them smile. And if they really like you, they’ll tell their friends about you. Repeat business and word of mouth is the best way to generate profit!

  5. Optimize your prices. Prices aren’t just there to tell you how much you’ll make after a sale – they also play a massive role in the renter’s decision-making process. Set your prices in a way that reflects the value of the experience you’ll be giving your guests. And don’t sell yourself short! Low prices don’t always lead to more sales — sometimes they signify low value. See how other people with similar setups are pricing their rigs and use them as reference.

The Benefits of RVezy

Benefits of using RVezy

Benefits of using RVezy

Insurance Coverage

RVezy provides insurance coverage in Canada and America for both trailers and motorhomes. The insurance policy is clear and simple, but don’t skip out on reading it, so you know exactly what to expect.

When it comes to invoicing, RVezy provides a pretty comprehensive breakdown, so you transactions should be smooth, especially when it comes to extra charges. Plus, you can do this all on the app.

RVezy’s insurance policy covers:

  • $1m third party liability coverage

  • Collision & comprehensive

  • All physical damages

  • Fire, theft & vandalism

Depending on where you’re from, RVezy provides insurance coverage from different vendors. The prices also differ depending on whether you’re from Canada or USA.

24/7 Roadside Assistance

For just $18/night, RVezy offers Roadside Assistance which includes:

  • Towing services

  • Tire replacement (This does not include the cost of the replacement tire)

  • Septic blockage removal

  • Battery Assistance

  • Food Spoilage Protection (fridge failure)

  • Locksmith

  • Fuel/Fluid Delivery (up to $20)

  • Meal reimbursement (up to $100)

  • Taxi Reimbursement (up to $50)

  • Hotel Accommodations (up to $400)

While roadside assistance packages are common for most RV rental marketplaces, RVezy’s package stands out the most.

Not only do they offer technical assistance, but they also offer meal & taxi reimbursement as well as hotel accommodations. So if something bad happens, you can be sure you’re well taken care of.

The coverage of the package is enough to cover the price you pay 20 times over. But let’s hope you don’t get the pleasure of ever having to use the service!

Overall, RVezy’s roadside assistance package is the most impressive I’ve seen. If you’re interested in renting an RV, then definitely give RVezy a try.

EZYmatch

benefits-ezymatch.jpg

EZYmatch is a feature that’s unique to RVezy. It helps owners exert less effort in promoting their listing.

EZYmatch notifies owners about renters who are actively looking for listings similar to their own. Owners can opt to reach out to the renter and send them a custom quote. If the renter likes the quote, they can go ahead and make the payment or decline.

It’s a fantastic way for renters to connect with owners with relevant units who are intent on providing the best experience possible, and for owners to make more & faster sales.

Customer Service

The majority of RVezy’s reviews (up to 94%) are positive, which says a lot about their customer service. Many users praise them for being friendly, helpful, and responsive – which is always nice!

benefits-customer-service-01.jpg

Cancellations

If anything goes wrong before a scheduled booking and you have to cancel immediately (whether you’re an owner or a renter), just contact RVezy and they’ll help you out.

But sometimes people are too indecisive. So, to protect you from wasting your time dealing with indecisive people, RVezy has a strict cancellation policy.

Compared to other RV rental marketplaces, RVezy isn’t too flexible when it comes to cancellations.

Normally, owners get to choose between a set of standardized cancellation policies (e.g., Flexible, Moderate, and Strict). These options help the owner choose between protecting their time (Strict), making their listing more attractive (Flexible), or a mix of both. With RVezy, you take it or leave it.

The details of the actual policy are a bit long, but it’s worth the read. Sometimes, people cancel bookings too late and get none of their money back – just because they didn’t know about the rules, so protect your time.

Best Apps to Use with RVezy

GetUpside: Save Money On Gas

logo-getupside.png

Depending on the size of your RV’s fuel tank, it can cost anywhere from $60-$600 to fill up the tank of an RV with gas.

To save money on gas during your trip, we recommend downloading the GetUpside app. By using the app, you can save as much as 25¢ per gallon of gas at major gas stations all around the U.S.

If you’re renting an RV with RVezy, we definitely recommend Harvest Hosts. It’s a fantastic app that lets you access thousands of free overnight stays at beautiful public locations across the US.

The first thing you’ll be doing after getting your RV is looking for places to visit. With Harvest Hosts, you not only find some awesome places to park your RV, but you also discover hidden gems you never knew were right next to you.

Harvest Hosts helped us make the most of our rental RV, and we highly recommend you try it out.

Boondockers Welcome: Settle Down With The Locals In The Comfort Of Your RV

logo-boondockers-welcome.png

Another app we’re super fond of is Boondockers Welcome. It’s sort of like Harvest Hosts in that it lets you look for locations to park your RV for free.

The difference here is that Boondockers Welcome lets you park on private properties instead. It gives you access to over 2,000 host locations all over the US, where you can park free of charge.

At the onset, Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome look identical, but we’re members of both, and we’ve personally found it best to subscribe to both.

With Harvest Hosts, you get access to public properties. Boondockers Welcome, on the other hand, gives you access to a community of RVers who will personally welcome you and your rig into the comfort of their homes, where you can settle down and recharge for the next trip.

logo-the dyrt.png

The positives and negatives of using RVezy

Pros

Browse for free, no registration needed

RVezy lets you browse listings for free, even without an account. So, if you’re on the fence, you can browse first for free and sign up later once you find a listing for you.

Available in Canada and the US

RVezy has been expanding rapidly across North America. They now serve tens of thousands of monthly users in Canada and are gaining a lot of traction in the US.

Great customer service

RVezy has an approval rate of up to 94% because of their friendly, helpful, and responsive customer service reps.

Low fees

RVezy’s service fees are some of the lowest in the industry. Other RV rental marketplaces charge renters up to 20% and owners up to 25%. RVezy only charges renters 10% and owners 15% (20% for US-registered vehicles).

User-friendly website and app

RVezy’s website and app are clean and super easy to navigate. There’s never too many things on the screen, and the copy is simple and concise. Loading is fast as well.

EZYmatch

EZYmatch helps owners exert less effort in promoting their listing. Rather than staying passive and waiting for renters to reach out, owners can make the first move and reach out to renters that have a high probability of being interested in their unit.

Best roadside assistance in the industry

Most roadside assistance packages offered by other RV rental marketplaces only include technical assistance. RVezy’s package offers not only technical assistance but also meal & taxi reimbursement as well as hotel accommodation to ensure that the guest’s day isn’t completely ruined by car troubles.

Useful search filters

RVezy’s search filters let you filter results according to RV type, guest count, price range, and more. Clever use of the filters reduces your browsing time and helps you decide faster.

Cons

Low reviews on their mobile app

The website itself has amazing reviews, and so do their apps. But in 2020, their mobile apps suffered a bit from bad reviews. Back then, RVezy was operating exclusively in Canada, which led a number of American users to complain about the exclusivity. They’ve since expanded to the US and are growing their audience rapidly.

Limited options in the US

Since RVezy is a Canada-based company, the majority of their userbase is from Canada. They used to operate exclusively in Canada until early 2020. Since then, however, RVezy has expanded their services to the US. Their American audience is growing rapidly, so options will not be as limited a few months down the line.

Picking an insurance protection plans is mandatory

RVezy lets guests choose from a standard or premium protection plan upon renting a unit, but there is no way to opt out. The insurance costs extra, but the folks at RVezy are determined to keep both owners and renters protected every step of the way.

So is RVezy worth it?

So is RVezy worth it?

Is RVezy worth it?

Yep, I do think RVezy’s worth it. They have high ratings, great customer service, a user-friendly interface, low service fees, good insurance, and great roadside assistance.

If you’re in Canada, RVezy is a must-try. They’re one of the biggest Canada-based RV rental marketplaces out there. Most of the big names in the RV rental industry are US-based, so Canadians don’t really get as much focus as they need. But with a Canada-based RV rental marketplace like RVezy, the experience becomes more personal and the costs get even lower.

Not only does RVezy have significantly lower service fees compared to the industry’s giants, they’re also more generous with roadside assistance and insurance coverage.

Because RVezy used to be exclusive to Canada, their mobile apps suffered for a while from negative reviews. Many users complained about the exclusivity. Today, however, RVezy is available not only in Canada but also in the US. Since then, ratings have picked up fast.

Overall, I definitely recommend trying RVezy, if not switching to it completely. The userbase is still growing, but from what we’ve seen so far, RVezy is going places.
